  • Answers come from the stories, interviews, and archives on blyoregon.org.
  • Ask about history, places, and community resources currently listed.
  • It is still learning, so if something sounds off, please tell us.
Tips

Get a better answer

  • Use names, dates, or places for more precise results.
  • For services or visits, ask directly about businesses or lodging.
  • Say "sources" if you want to see what page it used.

Talk to Bly

Ask about local history, places, and community resources. Bly answers from the stories and archives on this site, so it feels more like a neighbor than a search box.

It is still in development. To keep costs down, there is a per-session limit.

Use the mic or type a question. Voice is available on supported browsers.

Behind the scenes

How Ask Bly works

Ask Bly is built from the pages on this site. We regularly scan the public HTML, extract the text, and store it as a searchable library. When you ask a question, the system compares your words to that library and pulls the most relevant passages.

A language model then turns those passages into a short, friendly answer. It is instructed to stay grounded in the retrieved text and avoid adding facts that are not explicitly in the site content. If a detail is missing, it should say so and ask a brief follow-up question.

When to use it

Best questions

  • Local history, people, and places in Bly.
  • Named landmarks, events, and timelines.
  • Services, lodging, or places to visit.

For practical questions, Ask Bly prioritizes the Business Directory. It only includes contact details when asked.
